Word Meanings

Present day, words might mean
different things than what we have seen
an example like "bugles" means instruments
before meant "wild oxen" as in dominant.
Take the word "coil" now means "snakelike"
at one time meant "make a fuss"
whether or not it might bite.
Another one . ."capable" means efficiently
when in past times meant "to understand"
now do you see?
The words evolve, point up a different thing
meanings track changes
in teaching and learning.
"Expect" another one means "presumptuously"
meant "awaiting" before the turn of
the last Century!
Oh, how the meanings change. .
when strangely enough
the words look the same.
